DOCKLINE - March 2001
FROM THE COMMODORE:
Thank you to all that came to my Ball and helped make it one of the best Balls of the season! A special thank you goes to:
Erni - It wouldn't have come off, if it weren't for you. A special thanks for keeping me calmed down that day.
Vera - My right hand. I bothered her by phone every day for a month…and then she did the hospitality suite, too. In her spare time she got three of the four items donated for the fantasy auction.
Yolanda- for helping Vera and being an organizer.
Nolan for arranging and then rearranging tables for us.
Betty, Jane, Carol, Vera, Jerry & Judi for making the room look fantastic.
Jerry and Judi Cook- for handling the silent auction, lugging all the donated articles around, manning the registration table, to filling in the holes when I'd say, "I just have one more favor to ask…"
Bobby Faulkner- for donating the beer.
Don Gortowski - for taping the Ball and showing last year's tape and for giving me a picture of me in uniform.
Dave Mangano - for making TOBCA that nice announcement plaque. He couldn't attend the Ball but made a special trip to Aberdeen so that we would have the plaque.
Mike Handzo- for our spiritual guidance.
Brian Toner for being Master of Ceremony and doing such a great job.
My Captain Dave - for being they're for me.
To all that contributed, by food donation, or giving items for the silent auction, your presence at the Ball and your helping hands. Thanks to one and all.
Our next meeting is Sunday, March 25 at 3:30, but at a different location. We will be meeting at the North East River Yacht Club boardroom. The VFW couldn't have us because of a shuffleboard tournament. Please plan on attending as boating season is approaching and we're setting up cruise destinations and want your input.
Our April meeting will be on Sunday, April 22 at 3:30 PM back at the VFW and we will be having a memorial service for Dale Moffett. His family will be there and his widow, Ann, will be hosting a buffet dinner at the VFW at 5:00 PM, following the meeting. All who attend the memorial service are invited to the buffet. It would be nice if you would let me know if you are planning on being there so that I can give Ann a ballpark figure of how many people will be attending. Thank you.
FROM THE VICE COMMODORE:
I just want to say a big Thank You for all the people who brought food for the Hospitality Room and for all the help Erni received getting the Ball ready. Everyone had fun with all the good stuff for the silent auction. It was a great weekend. Can't wait till it is my turn.
FROM THE REAR COMMODORE:
Thank you to everyone who donated items for the silent auction. Everyone at the Ball seemed to really enjoy the opportunity to bid on items.
