TOP OF THE BAY
CRUISING ASSOCIATION |
North East, Maryland
DOCKLINE - September 2000
FROM THE COMMODORE:
First I'd like to thank the Todds for hosting our picnic again. Also thanks to all who chipped in to help make it a great weekend. Hopefully the club can carry on the tradition for years to come.
This season's cruising schedule is about to wrap up, with one remaining cruise to Baltimore's Inner Harbor. There is one slip available for that cruise. When taken we can obtain no more. Get you deposit in ASAP.
Although the cruising is about over, we are getting into the ball season. No not football, the yacht club balls that we've enjoyed over the years. All members are welcome to attend. Check with your officers regarding when and where.
Special thanks to our nominating committee, headed by Erni Heiser. At the last meeting they proposed a full slate of officers and directors for next year. TBA in this issue.
At our last meeting Jane Wiertel reported that the club took in $1000 in ad monies with our new campaign. This was a great first time effort. Should you continue to support it, the club will continue on a healthy financial path.
Next meeting is Sunday Sept. 24, at 3:30 PM at the North East VFW. We plan a memorial service in honor of our 2 recently departed comrades.
Let me see your face in the place.
GREETINGS FROM THE REAR:
This has been a great boating season with lots of new faces going with TOBCA to lots of new places. We went to some really neat old places too, like The Lot. Betty and Nolan were superb hosts, as always. Candy and Erni were great organizers, coordinating the ladies with the food, getting games set up and of course clean up detail.
A special thanks goes to Brian Toner who came up with the Hawian theme, produced grass skirts, hats, etc. and had a DJ on standby. It was too bad the weather didn't cooperate so that we could have danced under the stars, but I think everyone had a good time anyway. And thanks to Laurie Toto for teaching us the hula!
For those who were not there the winners of the various contests were:
Two weeks after the picnic the club went to Chesapeake City. We had a good turn out and all headed for dinner over at the Tap Room.
Our Frost-bite Cruise is our last official cruise of the season and I don't know where the summer went. Wherever it went, it was sure fun! I hope you all enjoyed the boating companionship as much as Dave and me.
Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting.
