DOCKLINE - May 2000
FROM THE COMMODORE:
Thanks to all of you whoattended the April meeting. Theturnout was great, and the DNR speaker was very informative.
Please note! The next four meetings will be held on thecruises on the fourth Sunday of the month, throughout the summer.
We will resume meeting at the VFW starting with ourSeptember meeting. The calendar is posted on the website and the cruise schedule is included with the Dockline.
I am very grateful to our members for supporting me and supporting our officers in the first half of my command.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you on the many cruises that are scheduled. Dutch has done an outstanding job of selecting destinations for us to cruise this summer.
If you have not been to the gas dock yet this year, I think you'll find it to not be as painful as we first thought. We filled at McDaniels Yacht Basin @$1.74 per gallon. After the Nauticard discount of $28.00 it came to $1.57 per gallon, not as bad as we had thought.
The Maryland Cruising opening yielded TOBCA our first plaque of the season for "the club with the most boats attending." We also attended the White Rocks opening day. Hope to see you all soon.
FROM THE VICE COMMODORE:
Dear Members:
We are off to another great boating season. We are getting some repairs done and hope to be ready for Memorial Day weekend. I am sure that many of you are doing the same and hope all of you are ready for a terrific and safe boating season.
There is a short announcement. Next years' Commordore's Ball is booked for March 3rd at the Holiday Inn, 100 Beards Hill Rd., Aberdeen, MD!!!!!. It will be a change for everyone and the hospitality room is still an event.
Well, bye for now!!! Need to get the dog to the Vet.... See you all soon!!!!!
GREETINGS FROM THE REAR:
We took the shake down cruise to Sparrows Point Country Club for Maryland Cruising's opening day ceremony. JJ's Affair was taking on water and it turned out to be a "haul it out and wait for part to arrive" experience so Jerry and Judy rode back to North East with us on the Epicurean. The opening itself was very nice and the hosting yacht club members could not have been more welcoming.
On May 20, our next cruise, TOBCA will be at Georgetown Yacht Basin for Sassafras YC opening at 10:30 and then Georgetown opening at 4:00 followed by a dinner in the basement of the Grannery. Price is $10 per person and a side dish. That is arranged by GYC. After that we will move upstairs at the Grannery to join SYC who is having a DJ and has invited TOBCA to join them for dancing and cash bar from 8:30 to 10:30. As of now we have eight boats going and a few land cruisers.
The last weekend of May is the Chestertown "Boston Tea Party" reenactment and we have fourteen boats scheduled for that cruise.
There are lots of cruises scheduled with plenty of fun to be had. Look at the schedule and sign up! If you have questions or want someone to follow to get to some of these destinations let us know and we will accommodate everyone the best that we can.
Thank you to all that volunteered for my phone tree. I appreciate the help!
I'm looking forward to seeing you on the water!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
